Nothing like the early morning hours in Marseille. There is no shortage of scenes telling all kinds of stories. Everything is illuminated by that unique light—golden warmth and intense clarity. Marine reflections from the Mediterranean act as a giant natural mirror, bouncing ambient, diffuse light back up into the city. The Mistral wind from the Rhône Valley routinely blasts dust and clouds out to sea, leaving behind a crisp, clear atmosphere that makes colors appear more vibrant. Because of its southerly latitude, the sun hits the coastline at a striking angle, creating long, dramatic shadows. Almost too much to handle.
